The Rongai route is one of the quietest routes, offering a more peaceful and secluded trekking experience.
Approaching from the north, this route receives less precipitation, making it ideal during wetter months.
The northern slopes offer chances to spot wildlife including elephants and various antelope species.
Experience Kilimanjaro from a different angle with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak and Kenyan plains.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Transfer to hotel and evening briefing.
Drive to Rongai Gate (1,950 m) near the Kenya border. Trek through pine and heather forest to Simba Camp (2,625 m). Spot Colobus monkeys!
Continue through moorland with spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Pass Second and Third Cave to Kikelewa Camp (3,600 m).
Climb to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m) at the base of dramatic Mawenzi Peak. Afternoon acclimatization hike with spectacular views.
Cross the lunar landscape of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to Kibo Hut (4,700 m). Rest and prepare for summit attempt.
Midnight start! Climb to Gilman's Point at sunrise, then to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) - the Roof of Africa! Descend to Horombo Hut.
Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive summit certificates and transfer to hotel for celebration!
Rest at hotel and transfer to airport for your departure flight.
