Machame Route Detailed Itinerary
ARRIVAL
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Transfer to hotel and evening briefing with our team.
MACHAME GATE TO MACHAME CAMP
Drive to Machame Gate (1,800 m). Trek through lush montane rainforest to Machame Camp (3,000 m). Spot Colobus monkeys and birds!
MACHAME CAMP TO SHIRA CAMP
Leave the rainforest and enter moorland zone. Climb to Shira Camp (3,840 m) on the Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak.
SHIRA CAMP TO BARRANCO CAMP (VIA LAVA TOWER)
Important acclimatization day. Trek up to Lava Tower (4,630 m) then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). "Climb high, sleep low"!
BARRANCO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP
Conquer the famous Barranco Wall! A thrilling scramble with incredible views. Continue to Karanga Camp (4,035 m).
KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP
Short trek to Barafu Camp (4,673 m) - your summit base. Rest, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight departure.
SUMMIT DAY - UHURU PEAK & DESCENT
Midnight start! Climb under the stars to Stella Point at sunrise, then to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) - the Roof of Africa! Descend to Mweka Camp.
MWEKA CAMP TO MWEKA GATE & HOTEL
Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive summit certificates and transfer to hotel for celebration!
DEPARTURE
Rest at hotel and transfer to airport for your departure flight.
